2000 - Moon Task Force Formed
Brainstorming with small
group on the most critical areas to be addressed and how
to begin to
involve community.
- May
2000 - Second Meeting - Moon Task Force
Involved the invitation of
outside school personnel (Police/Magistrate/Parents/etc.)
- June
2000 - Third Meeting - Moon Task Force
All community members and/or
people working in the community including staff,
business owners, political leaders, experts in various fields, etc. were invited.
Split
into small groups and discussed concerns and possible solutions as a
beginning point.

Presentation To Allard Liason and parents
Information nights to review
task force initiatives and overall concerns in
the
community to begin proactive work.

Development of website for all community members
Developed a website that
provides quick information on support groups, telephone
numbers, other topics which include; drugs, alcohol, sexual harassment, abuse, and
internet concerns.
- Distribution of literature throughout community
Development of informational
sheets that were distributed throughout the summer
to
pools, churches, and community functions to begin awareness. Great response!
- August 22, 2000 - Childrens focus group
activity - Pennsylvania Sticker Shock Program
Parents with the help of
businesses in the community, organized a statewid sticker shock
program.
It involved over 40 Moon High Students who helped place labels on beer
cases at
two distributors that read "It's not your call. It's the law!" reminding
adults
it is
against the law to purchase the beer for those under twenty-one.
Meeting have begun with the
children who want to participate in the Moon Task Force.
This is a
group of children in leadership positions who want to make a change in Moon.

Presentation To Moon Middle School
A meeting has been schedule
for early this year to discuss Task Force and answer
any
upcoming questions.
- September 14, 2000 - Fourth Meeting Moon
Area Task Force Organization
Meeting was held with our community to further discuss solutions and strategies for our
community. We had over 80 people in attendance that included children and
adults which
provided us with great insight. We are moving forward on the creation of the
Moon Area
Support Organization as a non-profit organization within the state of Pennsylvania!
We
will
be having more scheduled programs throughout the year! Just wait and SEE!
